What is Tilo, exactly?

Tilo is a fantasy chat service. You pick a persona, top up credits, and exchange messages. Each persona has a name, look and backstory we've created. Replies are written by Tilo's team — real people responding in the voice of that character. It's entertainment, designed for fun, flirty, low-pressure conversations.

Are the profiles on Tilo real people?

The personas are fictional characters we created. Their photos are AI-generated and don't depict any specific real person. The replies you receive, however, are written by real human writers on our team — they respond in the voice and personality of the persona you chose. We think this combination — a consistent fictional character, brought to life by a real human writer — is what makes the conversation actually feel like something.

Can I meet the persona in real life?

No. The personas are fictional and don't exist outside Tilo. Our writers won't share personal contact details or arrange meetings. Tilo is a fantasy chat service — not a dating or hookup product.

Who is Tilo for?

Right now Tilo is launching for gay men, with straight-oriented personas arriving soon after. You must be 18 or older (or the age of majority where you live, whichever is higher) to use the service.

Is Tilo a dating app?

No. Tilo isn't for meeting real people. Think of it more like a private interactive entertainment service than a dating product.

Credits & billing

How do credits work?

One credit equals one message you send. Receiving replies costs nothing. You buy credits in one-off packs — Taster (£4.99 / 10 credits), Starter (£9.99 / 25 credits), Regular (£24.99 / 70 credits) or Big Spender (£49.99 / 150 credits) — and they're added to your account instantly. Credits never expire.

Will I be charged on a recurring basis?

No. Tilo is one-time purchases only. There are no subscriptions, no auto-renewals, and no recurring charges. You only get charged when you choose to buy more credits.

Which payment methods do you accept?

Tilo accepts major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) through our payment processor. All charges will appear on your statement as "TILO" or "TILOCHAT".

Can I get a refund?

Yes, in certain circumstances. See our full Refund Policy for the details. In short: unused credits purchased within the last 14 days can be refunded; consumed credits cannot.

I see a charge I don't recognise — what should I do?

If you spot a charge from "TILO" or "TILOCHAT" you don't recognise, email support@tilochat.com with the date and amount and we'll investigate within 24 hours.

Privacy & safety

Is my conversation private?

Conversations are encrypted in transit and at rest, and aren't visible to other users. They are read by the writer who is replying to you, working under strict confidentiality obligations. We don't sell your data or share your chat content with advertisers. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Who actually reads my messages?

Your messages are read by Tilo's writers — the people who respond in the voice of the persona — and by a small number of trained moderators who review for safety and policy compliance. All staff are bound by strict confidentiality and data-handling rules. We don't share your messages outside Tilo.

What if a persona ever asks for personal information?

They won't. Tilo writers are trained not to request real-world contact details, financial information, photos that could identify you, or anything else outside the chat. If a conversation goes somewhere it shouldn't, you can report it from inside the app and we'll review.

How do I delete my account?

You can request account deletion from your settings, or by emailing support@tilochat.com. We'll permanently delete your account and chat data within 30 days. Unused credits are not refundable on deletion unless your purchase falls within our refund window.

How do I report a problem?

Email support@tilochat.com, call 0330 880 6071 (Mon–Fri, 9am–6pm UK time), or use the contact form on our Contact page. We aim to reply within one business day.
